About Deer Rest Cabin
Our cabin rental in Ruidoso, Deer Rest Cabin, was built in 1975. It has been in our family ever since and is a popular vacation destination for our entire family. Our rental cabin is a 2 bed/1.5 bath single family home with a king bed in 1 bedroom (1/2 bath), and a queen bed in the other bedroom. We use Sealy Posturepedic mattresses for the best overnight mountain rest you've probably ever had! The cabin is approximately 1000 sq. ft., is very clean, has a full bath, closets and ceiling fans in both bedrooms, includes the use of the washer and dryer, is an open concept (kitchen looks out into the living room and dining room), has a floor to ceiling REAL stone fireplace, new front and back door, new storm doors (front and back), has baseboard heaters, new berber carpet, new refrigerator and dishwasher, a gas grill (usable ONLY when fire restrictions allow) and a new couch.
Our cabin includes all utensils, plates, cups, pots and pans, towels, rags, linens, pillows, blankets and is decorated in neutral colors with quite a few antique pieces, including some light fixtures and wall switches. The walls have the original paneling from when the house was built, is in very good condition and is clean. It makes the cabin a little dark, but we just think it makes the house cozy (and there's plenty of windows for light). The house does NOT have air conditioning, but because of the mild Ruidoso climate and the large number of mature pine trees covering the property, we've never needed a/c. There's a phone in the house (local calls only), cable TV, VCR, 32" TV in the living room, and 19" TV's in both bedrooms.
There are over 400 mature pine trees on our property (3/4 acre) that provide shelter for many of the local wildlife species you'll see while relaxing on the large deck that runs the length of the house. They love our property and include deer, hummingbirds, occasional black bear (please see "Tips For A Safe Stay" to the left), skunk, squirrels and chipmunks. Please don't feed the deer (see link below). We love the wild animals that reside in these mountains and while feeding the deer is fun, it affects their natural ability to forage for their own food. They come to "rely" on humans for food and can starve to death when humans aren't present. Thanks for choosing our cabin rental in Ruidoso and we hope that you have the best time ever!
